Cyber Essentials for Tender Readiness

Arcadia Desiccant Technology designs and manufactures moisture-control, humidity-protection, and pressure-equalisation products for demanding industrial applications.

To qualify for high-value tenders with the MOD and other sensitive supply chains, the business needed to meet stricter cybersecurity requirements and achieve Cyber Essentials accreditation.

Qi developed a cost-effective infrastructure strategy that separated Arcadia’s network environment while maintaining access to essential shared manufacturing and stock data. The result was successful Cyber Essentials support, stronger client reassurance and improved access to new tender and supply chain opportunities.

The Challenge

Arcadia Desiccant Technology has built a solid reputation within its industry and associated supply chains. As a result, they have been invited to tender for contracts with high-stakes organisations such as the Ministry of Defence (MOD) and other sensitive supply chains. To qualify for these tenders, Arcadia needed to meet increasingly detailed criteria, one of which was achieving Cyber Essentials accreditation.

What is Cyber Essentials? Cyber Essentials is a government-backed scheme designed to help organisations protect themselves against common cyber threats. Achieving Cyber Essentials accreditation demonstrates that a business has implemented necessary cybersecurity measures to defend its infrastructure against a range of potential cyber-attacks.

The Solution

To facilitate the Cyber Essentials accreditation, Arcadia Desiccant, being part of the Track Components group, needed to modify its technical infrastructure. The infrastructure team at Qi developed a strategy that involved:

  1. Isolation of Systems: Creating a separate network environment for Arcadia’s operations, distinct from shared group resources.
  2. Cost-Effectiveness: Ensuring that the project remained manageable and budget-friendly.
  3. Maintaining Access: Allowing Arcadia staff to access essential shared databases for manufacturing and stock information without compromising cybersecurity protocols.
  4. Supporting Arcadia’s Cyber Essentials accreditation throughout the year by monitoring policies and alerts.
  5. Reviewing required changes and renewing accreditation for Arcadia annually.

The Outcome

Increased Sales Opportunities

Achieving Cyber Essentials accreditation not only allows Arcadia Desiccant Technology to participate in high-value tenders but also enhances their operational integrity. It provides:

Reassurance to Clients and Suppliers

Confirmation that their infrastructure is robust against common cyber threats.

Growth Opportunities

Ability to expand into new supply chains and solidify their presence in existing ones.

Competitive Advantage

Differentiation in the marketplace as a reliable partner committed to cybersecurity best practices.
