Making Tax Digital using older versions of Sage 50

There are many reasons why businesses should now be on a version of Sage that is MTD compliant, but for businesses that are still managing to use a version below V26.2, read on.

From November 2022, you will not be able to use your existing VAT online account to send quarterly or monthly VAT Returns.

You need to sign up for Making Tax Digital for VAT (MTD) and use compatible software to keep your VAT records and file your VAT Returns.

You can read the relevant HMRC notices here >

There is also a list of relevant software on the HMRC website here >

HMRC’s current messaging is that the use of a Bridging API is still acceptable from November 2022 onwards.

Thought for the Day

Sage UK have made their messaging clear:  Sage accounts users need to use version 26.2 or above to avoid any risk in accessing their data. If you wish to move from an older version of Sage to Sage 50c Accounts Professional we will make sure your data is upgraded accurately.  Taking your Sage 50c subscription through a Sage Business Partner like Qi, will cost no more than the published prices on the Sage UK website.
