A migration from Sage 50 Accounts Professional to Dynamics 365 Business Central

Who are Fire Safe and Sound (FSS)

Firesafe and Sound specialises in the supply of Fire Protection and Compartmentation products, established in 1999.

Their Head Office is based in West Thurrock, RM20 3FJ. Being situated just off the M25 allows for close links to London enabling us to offer a flexible, fast, on time delivery service unique to the industry, early morning and late night and weekend delivery into London and close surrounding areas are just some of the advantages they offer.
This one stop shop can supply you with Passive Fire Protection, Structural Fire Protection and Insulation Products, tools and PPE. Distributors for some of the most established companies in the industry, including FSi Limited, Sherwin Williams and Jotun. FSS has a large storage facility holding a wide range of systems and products for delivery and collection.
FSS work in partnership with their suppliers and contractors during the construction phase of both new build and refurbishment projects to provide systems fit for purpose, technical support and importantly the timely supply of material to the project.

The challenge

FSS is part of a group that due to its continuing success had nearly doubled in size which had led to data volumes that required a system with the best level of robustness possible, As one business within a small group of companies it was essential that FSI had levels of visibility of and was visible the Head Office to ensure that the best decisions were made regarding stock and finance, group wide.

Sage Line 50 Accounts Professional does not provide multi-site locations and this was a key factor for FSS and the rest of the group.

FSS (as part of the wider group strategy) also had plans to implement a CRM solution but needed this to be fully integrated into their day to day solution. In short, they needed a central system to help with planning and further development of the business and one that could cost effectively deliver customisations to meet their needs specifically.

The solution
A migration from Sage 50 Accounts Professional to Dynamics 365 Business Central

After full consultation across the group and consultation with Qi Ltd, FSI implemented Dynamics 365 Business Central on an Azure server as part of a group implementation. Their Sage 50 data was successfully migrated across without any issue. In this instance FSI adopted a learning leader training protocol led by key FSS team member Liam, to enable training delivered across the group to be maximised upon. Qi Ltd spent two days on site at the point FSS went live on the new system who had zero down time on processing as a result. Their project was completed with minimal time on site.

The outcome

Accurate Stock Control and Real Time Visibility

FSS can now share information with the rest of the group real time. As the pivotal sales force for the manufacturing business within the group, visibility of accurate stock levels ensures that FSS can fulfil sales with the best level of customer service and that their manufacturing arm can plan production to meet their needs.

Qi timed the live migration so that we didn’t have any down time on processing and the Go Live was ‘pain free’. We are still learning little details about the system but Qi give us all the support we need. The improved stock information is proving to be invaluable and a big improvement on Sage 50. The feature to be able to save a draft of a sales order is also really useful which is another plus over Sage 50. It was a wrench leaving Sage 50 but the advantages of doing so are evident already, just 3 months on.
